The credentials behind every job we do

Tree care is an unregulated industry — anyone with a truck and a chainsaw can call themselves a tree service. Professional certifications are the only way to verify that the people working on your property have the training, knowledge, and accountability to do the job right.

At Miller's Tree Service, we invest in the highest credentials the industry offers. Here's what each one means and why it matters for your trees.

International Society of Arboriculture

ISA Board Certified Master Arborist (BCMA)

Granted by: International Society of Arboriculture

The highest credential in professional arboriculture. A Board Certified Master Arborist has passed the ISA Certified Arborist exam plus an additional advanced-level assessment covering tree biology, diagnostics, urban forestry management, and risk assessment. Fewer than 2% of arborists worldwide hold this designation.

Tim Walters, Head of Operations, holds the BCMA credential.

International Society of Arboriculture

ISA Certified Arborist (CA)

Granted by: International Society of Arboriculture

The industry standard for tree care professionals. ISA Certified Arborists have passed a comprehensive exam covering tree biology, soil science, pruning, planting, diagnosis, safety, and tree risk assessment. Certification requires three or more years of experience and ongoing continuing education.

Miller's Tree Service has 9 ISA Certified Arborists on staff, one of the highest concentrations in the North Florida region.

Tree Care Industry Association

TCIA Accreditation

Granted by: Tree Care Industry Association

TCIA Accreditation is a third-party audit of a tree care company's business practices, safety programs, employee training, and consumer complaint history. Companies undergo a rigorous on-site review every three years. Only about 400 companies nationwide — roughly 2% of the industry — are accredited.

Miller's Tree Service has maintained TCIA Accreditation continuously, demonstrating a sustained commitment to the highest industry standards.

Tree Care Industry Association

Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP)

Granted by: Tree Care Industry Association

The CTSP credential is awarded to tree care professionals who have demonstrated expertise in developing and managing safety programs. CTSPs are trained to identify hazards, implement safe work practices, and foster a safety-first culture across their organizations.

Tim Walters holds the CTSP credential.

International Society of Arboriculture

Certified Tree Climber (CTC)

Granted by: International Society of Arboriculture

ISA Certified Tree Climbers have demonstrated proficiency in climbing techniques, aerial rescue, rigging, and safety procedures through a hands-on practical skills assessment. The credential validates that a climber can work safely and efficiently in the tree canopy.

Tim Walters holds the CTC credential.

Florida Chapter, International Society of Arboriculture

Florida ISA Prescription Pruning Qualification

Granted by: Florida Chapter, International Society of Arboriculture

A Florida-specific qualification that certifies an arborist's ability to write pruning prescriptions for trees in the state. It covers Florida's unique species, growth patterns, and the pruning standards required by many local tree ordinances.

Tim Walters, Bryan Wilson, and Clay Cantley hold this qualification.

International Society of Arboriculture

ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ)

Granted by: International Society of Arboriculture

TRAQ-qualified arborists have completed specialized training in systematically identifying, analyzing, and evaluating tree risk. The qualification covers tree failure patterns, site assessment, risk categorization, and how to recommend appropriate mitigation measures. It is the industry standard for tree risk assessment.

Clay Cantley, Katie Watkins, and other team members hold the TRAQ qualification.
