About the Event

Raising the Bar, Every January

On the last Friday of every January, our climbers come together for a full-day skills showdown. The goal is simple: become safer, smarter, and stronger in the tree. The event follows official ISA Tree Climbing Competition rules and includes all five core events.

The event is organized and run by Tim Walters and Bryan Wilson together. Tim is our Head of Operations and ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, with more than 20 years in the industry and a seat on the Florida ISA Board of Directors as the Climber/Production Representative.

Bryan brings a different kind of credibility to the day — he's one of the most experienced climbers on the team and consistently places at the top of the competition himself. He knows these events from the inside, and that firsthand expertise shapes how the day is run and how climbers are coached.

This event is also our qualifier for the Florida ISA Tree Climbing Championship in March. ISA rules let each company send only four climbers. With more than 20 teammates competing for those spots, every run matters.

Five Core Disciplines

🎯

Throwline

Precision throwing to set climbing lines at specific targets in the canopy.

⬆️

Ascent

Speed race to reach a set point in the tree using approved climbing systems.

🌳

Work Climb

Simulated real-world work scenario navigating multiple stations throughout the tree.

Speed Climb

Timed race up a fixed line — pure speed and explosive power.

🚨

Aerial Rescue

Simulated rescue of an injured climber — technique, speed, and safety under pressure.

The day is not only about competition. Crews cheer each other on, swap tips, and celebrate personal bests. It's our favorite way to turn training into a team-building event and show the high standards that set Miller's apart.
