Miller's Annual Climbing Competition
Elevating our skills, our standards, and each other.

About the Event
On the last Friday of every January, our climbers come together for a full-day skills showdown. The goal is simple: become safer, smarter, and stronger in the tree. The event follows official ISA Tree Climbing Competition rules and includes all five core events:
- Throwline
- Ascent
- Work Climb
- Speed Climb
- Aerial Rescue
The day is led by Tim Walters, our Head of Operations at Miller’s Tree Service. Tim has worked in tree care for more than 20 years, moving from a ground man to a skilled climber and foreman. Today he runs daily field operations and helps keep jobs safe and on schedule. He also serves as the Climber/Production Representative on the Florida ISA Board of Directors. His mix of skill and leadership sets the tone for the event.
Bryan Wilson supports Tim in running the day, making sure climbers have everything they need to perform their best.
This event is also our qualifier for the Florida ISA Tree Climbing Championship in March. ISA rules let each company send only four climbers. With more than 20 teammates competing for those spots, every run matters.
But the day is not only about competition. It’s also about camaraderie. Crews cheer each other on, swap tips, and celebrate personal bests. It’s our favorite way to turn training into a team-building event and to show the high standards that set Miller’s apart.
Below you’ll find year-by-year results, highlight reels, and links to each competition video. Watch how our climbers stack up and enjoy the progress we make one climb at a time.
